Even though it is June, it is still Kapha season. And this past month, here in Central New York State, the weather has embodied all the characteristics of Kapha season, the elements of which are earth and water. It was cold, wet, etc.
As we progress closer to July, we will be coming into Pitta season, but we’re not there quite yet. So, here is a list of foods everyone should favor until we reach Pitta season.
Fruits:
Apples, apricots, berries, cherries, cranberries, figs, grapes, lemon, lime, mango, peaches, pears, pomegranates, prunes, raisins, and strawberries
Grains:
Amaranth, barley, buckwheat, cereal, corn, couscous, crackers, granola, millet, muesli, oat bran, oats, polenta, quinoa, rice, rice cakes, seitan, tapioca, wheat bran
Legumes: Avoid soybeans and tofu
Adzuki, black beans, black-eyed peas, garbanzo beans, lentils, lima beans, mung beans, mung dal, navy beans, pinto beans, split peas, tempeh, Toor dal, white beans
Veggies:
Artichoke, asparagus, beets, bell peppers, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, eggplant, kale, okra, onions, peas, radishes, rutabaga, sprouts, wheat grass
Nuts/seeds (enjoy on occasion)
Almonds, chia, flax, pumpkin, sunflower
Honey is the only sweetener that pacifies Kapha
